Thanksgiving in a Coronavirus World

Before every miracle Jesus performs in the new testament, he gives thanks to the Father. The sequence of giving thanks and then performing a miracle seems counterintuitive to us, but it emphasizes the place that gratitude has in Jesus’ teaching. Gratitude comes first.

In this episode of the Bob & Bryan Show, we talk about how difficult it may seem to be grateful during Thanksgiving 2020. The Coronavirus rages on affecting the economy, healthcare, and probably our Thanksgiving meal conversations (in person or on Zoom). But it is important that we continue to give thanks for the gifts he has given us. Ingratitude may be the original sin. Ann Voskamp, in her book One Thousand Gifts, argues that Adam and Eve’s sin was rooted in being ungrateful for God’s gift to them.
